One of my all time favorite actresses, Natalie Portman, wore a gorgeous one-shouldered black dress by Lanvin for H&M to the Gotham Independent Film Awards.

How much was this dress? Only $199. While most celebrities are draped in $199,000 dresses on the red carper, Portman chooses a dress that looks just as beautiful as any Chanel or Dolce couture gown. In love.

I’m Still Here: To Laugh Or To Cry?

I walked into this movie not knowing what to expect. Would this be a blatently obvious mockumentary? Would it be the tragic demise of Joaquin Pheonix?

I walked out feeling like a horrible person for laughing so incredibly hard.

Okay Joaquin, you have everyone’s attention… time to come out and tell the everyone it’s just a game – just to prove to the world what a talented and artistic actor you really are. The Oscars clearly didn’t do it for you.

Or is the hoax rumor really not true? In this movie you will see Joquin snort cocaine, engage in sexual encounters with prostitutes, throw up after falling off stage, and, yes, rap. So you have to ask yourself, is it pixie sticks instead of coke? Did nothing happen when Joaquin was in the bedroom with a hooker? Was the puke really just chili? Were these entire last 2 years  just acting?

Although the movie is funny, there are parts that actually seem genuine. (I may be regretting saying this down the line…) But you could really see a struggeling man trying to fit into a scene where he really doesn’t belong. Of course, many talented actors make their own music – Johnny Depp, Jared Leto… but their music is actually good. All jokes aside, “JP”‘s rapping is pretty horrible. Not only is there no beat but you can hardly understand what he’s saying half the time. However, the amount of effort that he puts into it and the reaction he gets back  is heart wrenching.

It all comes down to one question: how long can a person really fake this level of absurdity?

Although I must admit I’m leaning towards “it’s real”, the one suspicious aspect of this whole thing is the fact that his brother-in-law, Casey Affleck, directed it. What kind of person would agree to put his brother-in-law’s life on show like that, knowing that he will just get laughed at? Casey is smart, but is he that cold-hearted? I find that hard to believe.

Evan Rachel Wood and Marilyn Manson (???)

I will never understand them. Not only is Evan Rachel Wood gorgeous but I LOVE her movies… thirteen, across the universe, and now true blood. What does she see in Marilyn Manson? Forget the looks part – that has nothing to do with it. But he’s gruesome  and creepy and disturbed! Everyone knows about his bizarre hobbies. I don’t get it.

New Sofia Coppola Movie!

I just saw a trailer for Sofia Coppola’s new movie “Somewhere”. It features Elle Fanning, who I think is great even though she’s 12 years old. Can’t wait to see it!

Megan Fox @ Jonah Hex Premier

I was not a fan of the dress, the hair, or the body that Megan Fox was sporting at the premier of Jonah Hex. Although she looks good in red, this dress was not flattering (except to maybe her boobs.) Her hair was a weird mix between curled and flat. And she is getting a little to skinny. There’s been rumors she has a new six pack – but I think it’s just her ribs…

What a shame because I’m a huge fan of Megan Fox’s style. She needs to add a few pounds, get a new hair stylist, and a new wardrobe.

Happiness Runs

I’m adding this to my movies to see list! It came out May 7th in New York but is playing in very select theaters.

Basic plot synopsis: Kids, who are the products of a 1970’s commune based on the premise of free love, peace, and drugs, are now a part of modern day culture. And one kid wants to get out. The following trailer will give you a better understanding of it.

I recently watched An Education and absolutely loved it. It’s so sweet yet witty. It’s a romance, but at the same time about independence. The plot is hard to explain without giving too much away, so here is the trailer. The soundtrack is also great.

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this movie. (And no, not just because Robert Pattinson is in it!) Remember Me is definitely drama filled. And with A LOT of drama comes A LOT of crying. I don’t think I’ve cried so hard during a movie since Pearl Harbor. But every tear was worth it! I would so see this movie again…and again.

Basic plot synopsis is about Robert Pattinson and his disfunctional life (including his relationship with Emilie De Ravin). But I don’t want to give too much away… except the end will SHOCK you.
